About Us

Welltrain Pty Ltd (Welltrain) is a proudly independent Australian owned training company. It has a new purpose built training facility in Perth, Western Australia, built to house a suite of simulators including a DS5000 Drilling & Well Control Rig Floor Simulator.

Established in July 2009, the company specialises in the design and delivery of operationally relevant courses to the oil and gas industry and in the production of related technical manuals and documentation for the petroleum industry worldwide.

Welltrain expects to deliver training to around 1000 people worldwide annually via our accredited training venues in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, in-house client training and on-the-rig coaching activities. The focus of our training is to deliver operationally relevant training that enhances skills. Welltrain has developed a broad range of operationally relevant scheduled public courses that cover the theoretical and practical aspects of well control for drilling and well servicing operations.

Welltrain supports both the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) WellCAP and the International Well Control Forum certification programs.

Scheduled courses cover both Drilling and Well Intervention Pressure Control. Welltrain has a specific 1 Day Introduction to Well Control Training aimed at first timers and personnel from the Coal Seam Gas (CSG) industry to help prepare them for a well control school. Candidates attending this one day introductory school will receive a discount on the 5 day well control school.

Company specific and customised in-house courses such as Advanced Well Control, Training to Reduce Unscheduled Events (TRUE), Stuck Pipe Prevention, High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT), Drill the Well On Simulator (DWOS) and Management of Drilling Problems are aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the professional drilling and engineering staff of client companies. This unscheduled training can be tailored for delivery in the classroom, simulator, rigsite or a blend of each.

The company's training services are complemented by an in-house "Technical Authoring" function, dedicated to the design, production and publishing of technical documentation for both training and operations.

Welltrain's instructors all have a balance of industry and training experience and will deliver training as accredited as IWCF Practical Assessors, IADC WellCAP instructors and as IADC WellCAP Plus facilitators.
