"The Full Bottle" Club

What is "The Full Bottle"?

This colloquialism has been around since the 1950's and has more than one meaning. It is used in Australia both as a noun and an adjective meaning 'expert', 'the whole thing', ('whole shebang'), 'complete', 'the full story (Cassell's Dictionary of Slang). In British Cockney it is used as an adverbial phrase meaning, at full volume' or 'full speed' - the utmost!

Still in use today, a full bottle is used to decribe a reliable authority, with complete knowledge of his/her subject matter. Compare someone who is not the full bottle - i.e. not all there, some part missing, not up to par or standard.

At Welltrain we have an elite group of participants who are The Full Bottle. Each has achieved 100% on their P &P paper during well control examinations. New candidates to this elite club will receive a special reserve bottle of Well Controlled Cabernet to celebrate their success.
